Round 1: Blogging vs. Twitter
Weighing-in with over ten years of experience and over 100 million users worldwide, in corner number one we have the Blogosphere. And in corner number two, only a few years old and already with 10 million users we have Twitter. Live from the internet on your home computer, for the thousands subscribing and millions reading around the world, Ladies and Gentlemen, Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!!!
Business today have so many more options than they did 10 years ago. A website was something “extra”, now it’s a necessity and often the first thing a company will set up prior to launch. Social Media is the hot new buzz word across the web. Internet marketers throw these words around to scare big execs into buying into their systems, webinars and e-book. Really, social media is not all that complicated. My two favorite means happen to be free: blogging and Twitter.
But which is best for a business to use? I’d like for you to maintain both at all times, but for the sake of argument and the purpose of this blog post, let’s pick one.
Round 1 Winner - Blogging
I know Twitter is all the rage right now, but weights and value of a well-run blog still beats out the quick gabs on a Twitter account. Remember that this is only Round 1 and anything can happen down the line. A blog can be used as an extension of your corporate website that allows for interaction with customers/clients/fans that you wouldn’t normally have. Blogs allow you to write about what’s going on in your business, new products, or upcoming events. And not only do blogs allow communication, but they a great for SEO. Each new blog post is a new entry in the search engines.
A blog will help you dominate your niche. Load your blog with pictures, videos, music, etc. The opportunities are endless. Younger generations are not opening newspapers for news, they’re going to FoxNews.com. They aren’t buying tabloids at the grocery counter either, they’re going to TMZ.com. You think a recent college grad is going to pick up a Cars Direct Magazine or Consumer Reports issue to read reviews on the latest Ford F-150? Nope, they’re going to head for the blogs and read real reviews from real people.
It’s not too late to get started. You can set up a blog in minutes and be on your way.
